Eric Entrikin began his career in the restaurant and wine industry while in high school. Like many working students, he was really only after a job (the punk rock drumming wasn’t paying the bills) but a position at an upscale continental restaurant changed his mind after the owner asked him to learn something about wine.

After various positions in the Los Angeles area, he landed a job at the Regency Club in Westwood with then slightly unknown Chef, Joachim Splichal. Joachim offered him the opportunity to following him to his new restaurant, Patina, where he was the assistant to the Maitre’D/Sommelier.

A decision to venture into a more wine focused role led him to move to the San Francisco Bay Area. There he worked in retail, restaurant and wholesale positions. While working for importers, he was able to travel extensively to many of the wine regions of France, gaining valuable first hand knowledge of this complex country.

In 2005, he accepted the position of Sommelier at a new steakhouse opening in Cupertino. Alexander’s Steakhouse offered him the opportunity to create a wine list from the ground up, there he enrolled in the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory Course and continued through the other levels finally becoming a Master Sommelier in 2010.

Eric believes that all the various positions from restaurant, retail, wholesale and even a small stint in wine production over the last 30 years along with some intensive study over the 3 years leading up to the exam gave him the background to achieve the Master Sommelier Diploma.

He currently lives in San Jose with his wife, Mary, two cats-a very large one and a smaller one, and a recently rescued abandoned rabbit who has assumed the role of leader of the house.
